Ultrasound!

Today was the day I've been waiting for since I found out I was pregnant, the Ultrasound!

We were led into a small room with a bed, a chair and a huge ultrasound machine. I had to lay down on the bed and put my legs in stirrups, Sean got to see what us woman have to do for our pap smear. The first part was a vaginal ultrasound. She stuck, what looked like a dildo up inside of me and almost immediately I could see our baby. It was So neat! You could see it moving around and it actually looked like a baby, well an alien baby, but still a cute little thing. After the vaginal ultrasound she rubbed a bunch of jelly on my abdomen and did the ultrasound from there. Both looked about the same to me, but she said she could get different angels, and vaginally they are able to look at the ovaries and get closer to the baby. Everything measured fine, and the baby's heartbeat was 167 so that was good. They are keeping my due date the same, so I'm officially due 10/17/2010.

I haven't had a chance to scan the photos, but I've taken a picture of a few of the photos with my camera and uploaded so I could at least share on here.

Our alien baby

You can see the baby's arm's and in this one it's saying hi to Grandma and Grandpa!

The photo I sent out to family when I announced we were pregnant.

Two feet!

After our appointment I immediately called my mother. I've been waiting to tell her FOREVER! I called to make sure she could talk and than told her I was going to text her something and to call me back. I sent a text with the photo I mentioned above. She was very excited, although she couldn't believe I had kept it from her for so long.

I didn't have a chance to call anyone else until after work. I called my dad, and he didn't pick up. He called me while I was driving home and I again did the same thing, where I told him I was going to text him something and to call me back. He was very excited as well, and told me he can't wait to spoil the grandchild.

Maria called, because heck it's Maria Thursday, ie. Maria and I talk every Thursday, so she got the news too. She visited a few weeks ago, and it was hard not to enjoy Sangria with her, so she was glad to know that I wasn't avoiding her Sangria just because "I gave up alcohol for Lent."

I tried getting in touch with Stacy and we finally got in touch later in the evening. She got the same text as mom and dad, and she was excited too. She thought I was going to text a positive pregnancy test, I think an ultrasound photo is much better!

Sean has spoken to all of his family except his dad. He originally wanted to tell his dad first, but he's been busy in meetings all days, so hopefully no one spills the beans before he has a chance to share. His sister Amy knew from this past Easter weekend, he told Tara by telling her that Ella and Alex are going to have another cousin to play with, not sure what he told his mom, and than he told Alana that she was going to be an Aunt again (I think we got the biggest reaction from her, lots of screaming and excitement).

I can't wait to share the news with more of our close friends and family. We're still waiting before we open it up and announce it to the world, but I'm sure the time will fly by very quickly now, probably too quickly. Let's hope I can get to sleep tonight, I'm definitely in another high, what a great day. I'm so glad it's almost the weekend!
