Easter Weekend 12 weeks

This past weekend we got a real taste of parenthood when we had our two nieces and nephew spend the weekend at our house for Easter. We had a ton of fun, but lets just say I'm not ready for 3 kids, nor do I think I ever will be. Luckily Sean and I have decided on only having two kids.

Sean's sister Amy asked us a few times during the weekend if we were pregnant yet, and of course we lied each time. At one point she said "Don't take this the wrong way, but your boobs look bigger." I played it off with how it must be a different bra, and I didn't notice them being any bigger.

On Easter Sunday we decided to let Sean's sister and her family in on our little surprise, they were going to find out sooner or later especially since I could no longer pull the Lent card for not drinking. We told Anna first. Well actually Sean did. He asked if she wanted to know a secret, and than told her I had a baby jaguar in my tummy. This is a joke going back to when her mom was pregnant with her brother, when we asked if she thought she was having a brother or sister she said she thought she was going to have a baby jaguar. She seemed a little confused, so I told her I had a baby cousin in my tummy. She got really excited, and asked if we were serious, and again asked if we were telling the truth. We said yes, and that the baby had to grow, and they would meet the baby in the fall. We than told her she could go tell her mom.

Anna ran out of the room and I could hear her telling Amy that I had a baby in my tummy and it was their cousin and it was growing. Amy ran in and asked if what Anna was saying was the truth. We said it was and told her that we were 12 weeks exactly. She thought we were pregnant but thought that we were maybe only 4 weeks along, not 12! She said the biggest giveaway were my boobs, they have really grown these last few weeks, and I didn't realize how noticeable they were to other people. It was fun to talk baby talk with Amy, and she's going to let me borrow a bunch of maternity clothes, so I'm excited about that.

I can't wait until we can spread the news to the rest of the family. We have our first ultrasound on Thursday and I am really excited to hear the baby's heartbeat and to get a glimpse of our little baby.

No other changes besides the massive breasts, and my mid-section which is definitely getting thicker. I tried on a few pairs of pants and skirts and they definitely don't fit right anymore. Luckily it's been really warm and I do have some "comfy" skirts. I'll have to get a few more to throw into rotation until I get the maternity clothes from Amy.

I'm still peeing constantly and getting up 5 or 6 times a night. I'm used to it now though. Yesterday I was beyond tired, but I'm assuming it had a lot to do with the busy weekend with the kiddos. I went to bed at 7:00 and slept until 6:30, almost 12 hours of sleep! I definitely felt better today, but who wouldn't after that much sleep.

I haven't run that much in the last few days due to company for the weekend and than 90+ temps, which is way too hot for April in Virginia. I did however get a 5 mile and a 3.5 mile run in last week, and both felt pretty good. The 3.5 mile run was probably one of the fastest runs I've done in a long time, averaging a 9:39 pace. I never thought that would seem fast, but it felt great and it made me happy! I'm glad running still makes me happy. I just have to make sure I keep it up and don't get lazy because I don't want to forget what I love. I'm finding it very easy to be lazy, because heck it feels great to come home, but PJs on and veg on the couch. Because of this, I need to start signing up for some 5Ks so I make sure to continue with my running. Even though I won't be racing them this year, I can still run/jog and I know I will still have fun.

  1. What a cute way to let them in on the surprise. A jaguar, lol. That must have been fun getting to ask Amy questions about pregnancy and not having to hide anything for the remainder of their visit. I can't wait for the day when I get to call you and ask you for advice!
