After all of the food consumption yesterday I knew I had to eat better today and get some exercise in. I hadn't run since Saturday's 5K, and wanted to do my 3.5 mile 7-11 run after work.
I changed into my running clothes at work as I normally do. It makes it easier so I don't change my mind once I get home. I noticed my clothes fitting a little tighter and also that my belly was definitely showing even more, even with a loose shirt.
I put my heart rate monitor on once I got home and started out for my run. Almost immediately my heart rate shot up. When I've been jogging lately my heart rate is usually between 135-155. My heart rate quickly went into the 160's and than to 177! I wasn't feeling any different, in fact my body felt awesome. I wasn't out of breath and my legs felt strong. I know my heart rate should not be that high so I quickly changed my jogging to walking. I figured I could walk the 3.5 miles, no big deal. My heart rate was still in the 140's and 150's just walking. Not that I was necessarily worried about my heart rate in 140's and 150's but I was worried that it was at this rate while I was walking.
I went half a mile and turned around to walk home. I wasn't sure if it was an over abundance of chocolate yesterday, taking too many days off, running the small hill to start near my house...there are a ton of factors. But it concerned me, and although I wanted to run and get my exercise, I also have a little one to watch out for as well.
When I got back to my house I figured I'd jogged on the flat part of the street toward Suzy and Sonny's house. Luckily my heart rate stayed in the 130's and 140's while jogging so it was definitely closer to normal. I jogged until I saw Suzy, she was finishing up her run, and she was doing a cool down walk, so I walked with her.
I only ended up doing 1.75 miles and most was walking, but at least I got out and did some exercise. I will try again tomorrow and maybe just run around the back part of my neighborhood which is a lot flatter. Another option would just be to park on my way home and run on a flat running path. The only problem with this is that I don't get to pee before I run.
I'm finding my bladder is a little out of control these days. I'm having to constantly use the bathroom during the day and I wake up probably every hour and a half at night. I seriously hope that this doesn't get worse, ok I know it's going to get worse but I'm not even 16 weeks yet, so if it continues at the rate it's going I will be in a lot of trouble trying to run when I need to take bathroom breaks.
