I've been able to get out and get some sort of exercise every day this week and although my running has now really started to suffer, I'm glad I am still able to run and that I am still staying true to being active.
Monday
Run: 3.56 miles
Time: 45:01
Pace: 12:37/mile
Avg HR: 128
Max HR: 157
I think this is my slowest run ever. For the first time it was my legs that felt tired, not my lungs. My body just wasn't into it, so I told myself fine you don't have to run, but you do have to get exercise and at least walk it. It felt great walking, which is crazy, because I HATE walking. I LOVE running. I think because it's starting to feel like summer, we basically skipped spring here in Virginia, so it was nice to be outside.
Tuesday
Swim: 5 x 100 meter
Time: I didn't time myself but it was pretty slow.
My arms felt dead, but probably because I hadn't been in the pool since my triathlon, which was at the end of March. With the next triathlon coming up on the 23rd I figured I better get back in the pool and start to get back into swimming shape. I've spoken to a few running friends that have had kids and they all said they swam throughout their entire pregnancy, and at the end it was all they could do, so I really want to make sure I start swimming consistently, at least a few times a week.
Bike: 8.16 miles
Time: 40:24
Speed: 12.1 mph
Avg HR: 110
Max HR: 141
I also haven't been on my bike in a while. My last ride was the beginning of April with Audrey. I figured I better get a ride in and make sure I'm cross-training and not running all the time. I road my bike to Sean's softball game. It was another nice night and I knew it would be a good idea. It was a very slow ride. I didn't push it, and I just enjoyed the ride. My actual moving speed was faster, I had to stop at about 3 or 4 red lights, but since I can no longer push myself for speed, I was fine with just getting a ride in.
Wednesday
Run: 3.38 miles
Time: 34:43
Speed: 10:16/mile
Avg HR: 147
Max HR: 164
I hadn't been to intervals in FOREVER. What's the point I can't work on my speed...right? Well Sean, Sonny and Suzy were all planning on going so I decided I'd go to and run around the track while they were doing their workout. That way I wasn't running alone. I got to intervals and was excited to see Jami was there too. I hadn't seen her in forever. Since I can't get to intervals until after 6 everyone only had three intervals to go.
I did three track laps while they did three longer loops. I than ran the cool down which was actually too fast for me, but Jami and Sean ran with me so it was nice not to run alone. It was hot and I made sure to stay hydrated. My body felt good and as you can see above my speed was definitely faster than it has been. It was mostly because I was taking breaks after the track laps so my first mile was really fast, well fast to a pregnant gal (under 9 minutes).
Thursday
Swim: 5 x 100 meters
Time: Didn't time
My arms still felt tired, but I felt stronger so I think if I keep this up I may actually be able to get up to the 300 meters I need to swim in the tri. I'm actually not worried, I'll be fine. I just have to build my arm strength back up, and I really need to start doing weights again. I've been slacking on weights since I stopped going to Muscle Pump.
Run: 2.57 miles
Time: 29:47
Pace: 11:35/mile
Avg HR: 142
Max HR: 155
After my swim I decided to run around the gym which has a 2.5 mile running path that loops around. My legs felt tired at first, and I had to take a walking break a few times in the first mile, but I was able to run the last 1.7 miles without stopping. It's crazy how running 1.7 without stopping is a big deal now. It was 95 degrees out today so I made sure to stay hydrated and ran with a water bottle. I wanted to make sure I didn't overheat. I felt good at the end and maybe because I was running in just a sports bra (ok two sports bras) and shorts that helped.
I'm either taking tomorrow off, or doing a little bit of weights or pilates at the house. I don't want to overdo it, especially since I've been so good with my workouts this week.
I've been a little self conscientious about my weight the last few weeks, and I think by talking about it with everyone it is helping. I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my entire life by about 10 pounds and although I know I'm gaining weight for the best reason ever, it's still hard to see the number on the scale and see my body changing. Luckily I'm finally starting to look pregnant, instead of just fat, so I think that is helping me as well.
Sean and I "race" a 5K next Saturday and than we have our 2nd triathlon of the season on the 23rd. I'm especially excited for the triathlon, I just need to get a shirt figured out so I can give credit to baby Murphy. It is his/her 2nd triathlon afterall!

Wow! Very impressive Tricia. I am so proud of you and your push to continue running, swimming and biking. You are certainly taking good care of yourself and "Our" baby. I love you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mom. It felt good to get out everyday this week. I'm still struggling with nutrition, so I figure the one thing I can control is exercise. Ok I should be able to control nutrition too, that's a whole other blog I need to write, but I'm doing the best I can.
