Last week I only exercised twice. Monday was a prenatal yoga/pilates video (thanks Maria) and Wednesday I did 3.5 miles at intervals. I was planning on hitting the pool but due to my husband getting ill (Thursday-Monday) I spent my free time with him and used that as my excuse not to exercise. Ok I lie, I did go to the pool on Monday, but it was only to visit my friend Amanda and I lounged in the outside pool at her apartment complex, so I did hit the pool, just not for exercise.
Than this week I went to intervals on Wednesday and was excited to get some running in. It was National Running Day afterall! I started running and within less than a minute I had pain in my lower abdomen/uterus area. It wasn't a throbbing pain, but more like a cramp every time I tried to run. I stopped and walked and tried again a few different times. The pain wasn't going away, so I just walked and didn't push myself. I am smart enough to listen to my body, even if I don't want to hear what it has to say. I ended up walking 1.5 miles, which is better than nothing, plus I got some fresh air and it felt good to be outside.
Yesterday I was walking around Sam's Club and every once in awhile felt the cramping pain. I'm not sure if my uterus is growing again. Who am I kidding, "of course my uterus is growing!" but I'm not sure if this is what I am feeling. I go to see my OB/GYN on Tuesday for my ultrasound so I will ask him then. I was supposed to see the doctor this past Tuesday, (and Baby Murphy too!) but the ultrasound tech had a death in her family and called out for this entire week. I can't wait to see our baby again, especially since according to my baby updates the baby will be approximately 11" long and 3/4 lb! That seems huge to me.
I wasn't planning on doing any exercise last night since just walking around I wasn't feeling that great. I didn't want to push it. When I got home Sean asked if I wanted to go for a short trail ride through WISC. This is a 5 mile loop that we used to run frequently. I can't remember the last time I ran 5 miles. Probably at 10 weeks when I did my half marathon. I can't even imagine running 5 miles now, let alone 13.1! I decided I was feeling better and I know exercise if you're feeling good is good not only for me but for the baby too. I went to change but quickly realized my bike shorts weren't very comfortable when I tried to put them on. Sean smiled at me and threw me a pair of his to wear. Since we were riding in the woods I decided to ride my hybrid bike. It's a lot more durable since it's a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike. I call it my cruiser.
I don't think I've ridden this bike since I got my new bike. It felt so strange to sit up right and it took me some time to get used to how the gears change. At one point my chain fell off because I was changing gears too fast. Oops! The ride itself was fine, except for the humidity, the bugs and the fact that my butt was killing me. I did enjoy Sean's company, but when he asked if I wanted to ride the loop again, I quickly said no and that I wanted to get inside away from the bugs and heat.
Tonight I'm planning on doing an open water swim. We'll see how that goes. It should be fun, and it'll be good to get in the cool water out of this awful heat we've been having. I hope swimming still feels good.
Tomorrow I have a 5K that I'm signed up for, but I'm seriously thinking it may be one that I actually have to walk. This frustrates me because I don't want to be done running. I'm hoping Baby Murphy will stop being stubborn and let me run tomorrow, but if not, s/he is the boss until October and I have to listen to what s/he says.
These last few days I've finally felt the baby move. I remember feeling a kick at the doctor's office a month ago, but hadn't felt anything since. Well since Wednesday I started feeling this bubbling/butterfly/movement in my lower abdomen and slowly realized it wasn't my stomach but the baby moving. Baby Murphy seems to move around a lot. I haven't really tracked what time of day, but I usually feel something about 3 or so times a day. Maybe in between the baby's nap? It's a pretty neat feeling and it's making me really excited for the ultrasound so I can see how much the baby has grown and I'm also hoping that the baby looks less like an alien and more like a Murphy.
Update: I called the doctor and spoke to one of the nurses. She told me that the pain I've been feeling is most likely Round Ligament Pain. I have two round ligaments that run on either side of my abdomen and at around 20 weeks they start to stretch as my uterus grows and therefore cause sharp pain. Luckily it's normal and it's temporary so hopefully it's gone in a few days.
