Our little guy was actually smaller than we thought

I finally made it to the Medical Records office at the hospital to get a copy of Kieran's baby footprints. Most people get a cute little card with their infant's prints on it before they leave. I guess with Kieran rushing around and only being at the hospital for 8 or 9 hours before having to be taken to CHKD they didn't have the time to make me the cutesy little card. Regardless I still wanted a copy of his footprints so I could remember how itty bitty they were, about the length of my pinky!

After getting into the car I pulled out what I was given. They just gave me a copy of the Newborn Identification form that was filled out in the delivery room when he was born. It has my fingerprint and his footprints along with all of his "info". I was reading over it and saw that in the length box it said 17 inches. We were always told he was 18 inches. I tend to believe this form is probably correct since it was filled out right after he was born, and that some how along the way they came up with 18".

This makes sense though, because 4 days later at CHKD they measured him and came up with 17" and I was thinking, wow he shrunk an inch. Sean tried to rationalize it by telling me it was because of his cone head, but it wasn't his cone head, he didn't shrink, the Sentara folks just don't know how to do data entry.

Not that his length matters, but I'm confused at how this could have happened. I'm guessing that due to his unstable condition they weren't worried about a little paperwork. Mistakes happen, but this seems like a pretty simple entry, and I would think this would be hard to mess up. I guess not though. Although now that I think about it, I also thought time of birth would also be hard to mess up but we also had conflicting paperwork stating 21:37 and 21:47. This form says 21:47 so I guess we'll go with that.
