As the weeks continue to fly by I'm feeling more tired, more lazy and I guess more pregnant. The belly is continuing to grow, and I think the boobs are starting to grow again. I don't think they've really grown recently, but they seemed heavier last night and my bra is filling out more than before. Let's just hope they don't get too big.
I've had some heart burn recently too, and am having more and more trouble bending down and getting off the couch.
This week I did two days of exercise at the gym. One day of swimming and one day of running/walking on the treadmill. I haven't attempted to run in a while and since I've signed up for a 5K next weekend I decided to do a little "running."
I remember earlier on in my pregnancy thinking I would be able to run through my entire pregnancy no problem. Well with the added weight gain, the awful Virginia heat and me being lazy my body has other plans for me. I still have the desire to run, but when I attempt I'm not always as successful as I want to be.
At the gym this week I decided I'd do as much as I could. I did two half mile jogs at between a 5 and 5.5 mph pace with a 0.10 mile walk at a 3 mph pace in between. I tried for a third but my body said no. I continued to walk for a total of 35 minutes and ended up with about 2.25 miles between jogging and walking. My body was tired and sore for the entire day after. Getting off the couch was painful. I'm not sure if the baby is head down or not, or if there is more pressure on my cervix just because of the weight of the baby (about 3 lbs now) but running seemed to cause pain in my girly parts. I've had this pain before when I've run and the doctor said if running hurts don't do it, (just because who likes to cause pain to themselves) but it won't hurt the baby, it just causes added pain for me to deal with.
So it seems like my body is saying take it easy and enjoy the rest. Problem is, I don't enjoy relaxing, I want to run and I wish I could go for an hour run. I guess I'll have plenty of time for that after the baby is born. Well maybe I won't have plenty of time, but my body should be more accommodating and it will help me get back into pre-baby shape.
I'm still doing the 5K next weekend, but it looks like I'll be walking more than running. Any exercise is good though, and will make delivery easier. Plus there is free Ben & Jerry's ice cream and dinner after, score!
Everything else has been going well. I had my first and hopefully not last prenatal massage yesterday. It was very nice and I can't wait to schedule another one.
Can't think of anything else to share right now, so here are this weeks photos.

30 weeks!!! You look lovely! I love the crib and dresser you guys picked out. Very nice! Also, I would walk 5k for Ben & Jerry's and dinner, he he. Good luck with the race this weekend.
ReplyDeleteFor the pain, I highly highly highly recommend a chiropractor. I was totally skeptical when my midwife told me I should go but seriously after the 3rd visit I felt so much better! Also, as much as it sucks, exercising really helped me, especially at the bitter end. I finally got to the point where the most I could do was a half mile walk at a pace where most senior citizens with walkers could lap me. Still, it actually kept me more moblie than my non exercsing preggo friends.
ReplyDeleteHold on! That last few weeks stink but the end is in sight!!!
I'll have to check out the chiropractor. I slacked the last few weeks on exercise, but I've been going strong this week. 2 days of swimming (1,000 yds straight each time), and one day of walk/running (switching back and forth every 2 minutes). I plan on doing another day of swimming tonight and then I have a 5K on Saturday, which I'll probably walk most of, but I'm hoping to jog as much as my body allows.
ReplyDeleteI'm so slow too. I used to be able to run a 5K at just over a 7 minute pace, now I can barely jog a 1/4 mile at a 13 minute pace, and don't even get me started on my walking pace, which is between 18:30-20 minutes per mile. At least I'm still moving though.
