This week we started thinking more and more about things the baby will need. We had a shower back in July (oh yeah, some how it's August now too...crazy!!!) and we got a lot of great stuff for our baby, although babies in general need a lot of stuff and we still have a lot to buy.
I decided to check out a local consignment store that I've heard great things about. It's called Sugar and Spice, and it is my new love. I stopped in on Tuesday just looking to see what they had and ended up purchasing a baby swing.

I bought the following swing, which retails for almost $150, depending on where you buy it, and I got it for about $40! The swing itself is in like new condition and I'm excited to put my baby in it, and excited I got such a great deal. I will definitely be checking back every week or so to see what new stuff they may get. Besides Baby Gear they also have a ton of clothes, although since we don't know the gender it's hard to buy very much. I did however find a pair of baby jeans for $1.50 and a cute shirt for $1, score!
These were the first baby items that I have bought myself, I have been holding off and now we really need to get cracking and get the rest of the items on our list.
I know the baby doesn't "NEED" a lot, but there are definitely items that make it easier. We do however "NEED" to figure the nursery out. The baby will be sleeping in our room for the first few weeks in a bassinet, but we definitely want to have the nursery ready so that we don't have to worry about it after the baby is born.
We hadn't even begun to think about the nursery, so yesterday we decided we would figure out the furniture, or at least try our best to figure it out. We were originally going to go to Pottery Barn Kids to see what they had, but Sean told me to find a couple other stores around the area, since we would be heading up to Richmond anyway. Doing a few online searches I found this store called USA Baby. It claimed to have the largest baby and kid furniture selection in Virginia. We decided to check this store out first, since if it truly had the largest selection in Virginia it would be our best bet.
We got to the store and were more than pleased. There was an entire showroom of cribs and it was pretty overwhelming if I'm being honest. We narrowed it down to three cribs to get additional information. Each crib could be bought with a dresser for a discounted price so this is where we originally had a hard time choosing. We had a favorite crib and a favorite dresser, but they weren't sets so we wouldn't get the discounted price if we went with both.
We ended up making a final choice based on our favorite crib. We didn't make a purchase, but decided to come home and research and make sure it couldn't be found cheaper. I did a little research yesterday and I think this crib and dresser will be purchased today or tomorrow. The only bad part is it takes 6-12 weeks for delivery. Yes I said that right, 6-12 weeks. Remember I'm due in 11 weeks. The woman at the store we work with mentioned they get shipments every month from this manufacturer so when we order we can mention that we NEED it to be on the September truck. No promises, but hopefully they are able to accommodate this.
Now that we have the furniture taken care of, well pretty much taken care of, we now need to decide what we're going to do with the rest of the nursery. We need to decide on linens, curtains, paint colors and artwork. Hopefully we can decide on this soon!
Another thing to get ready for the nursery is to start emptying out the bedroom itself. We currently have a bedroom set in the room that needs to be put up in the attic (well only the bed, it's just a full size) and a closet full of clothes and boxes. I think it will be a goal of mine in the next week or so to start emptying out the room.
We have decided to take the dresser and night stand and move it into our other guest bedroom. The problem is that it doesn't match the bed that's in the other room. We have another bed frame in the attic (a queen size, actually the same as the bed in the guest room, just a different color) that matches closer, so we'll be switching that bed out with the bed that's in the room now. It's a bit of a hassle, but I think it'll just be an afternoon project and once it's done it'll make us feel one more step prepared and closer to finishing our endless checklist.
I'm slowly losing my motivation to do most anything. I find a lot of my free time laying on the couch watching tv or on the computer. Maybe I should stop blogging and go for a walk. The baby continues to move around constantly, and if I watch my stomach I can definitely see it moving.
Yesterday Sean and I were laying on the couch facing each other and he felt the baby moving around with our belly's touching. He couldn't believe all the movement. I actually love feeling the baby move, but it still is pretty crazy that I have a person growing inside of me! Human development still amazes me.
Another bit of exciting news is that mom booked her flight for October!!! She's flying in the Thursday before my due date and staying for 2 1/2 weeks! I can't wait to see her and for her to teach me everything she knows.
Now for the reason you're really checking out this post...pictures!!! It's crazy how much I've changed and grown since I started taking photos at 15 weeks. I just checked back at the post I wrote then, and under one of the photos I wrote "Wow, I feel huge." I look at this same photo now and think "Wow, look how tiny I was." Image is all relative. I'm definitely accepting my body the way it is.

I love that Sean didn't tell me my panties were showing. I couldn't tell and had no idea until I saw this photo. Thanks babe.
OMG! So much new news - we need to talk! Love all the photos and updates. 77 days and counting down... Yikes.
