I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Just a physical, which meant I peed in a cup, they took my blood pressure, had me step on a scale and then did a culture. If I had needed a pap smear they would have done that, but since I had one in September, they said they would wait until after I delivered.
It was a pretty uneventful appointment, and I was glad I didn't have a a co-pay. Fingers crossed that I only had to pay the first one and the rest are all under the same original co-pay. That would be awesome!
I've felt really good these last few days. I had another successful run last night. My legs were tired so I wasn't able to run very fast, but I was able to run 7.25 miles and my lungs felt awesome. Usually my breathing slows me down, but it was definitely my legs this time. I'm assuming it was running two "long runs" back to back. I'm feeling a lot better about the half marathon next weekend. I know I can't push it as much as I originally wanted too, but I still want to run under 2 hours if possible, that's 10 minutes slower than my last race and this course is much flatter, so I'm hoping that's still possible.
I still haven't had any morning sickness or any real symptoms of being pregnant. I told the doctor this and he said that's normal, and I'm pretty sure my mom was the same way, had really easy pregnancies, so fingers crossed I'm the same way.
My boobs are still pretty sore, so I guess that's one symptom, but I've found that double bagging it, ie. wearing two sports bras, holds the girls in place and works for me. Otherwise there is just a lot of pain. My depth perception may be off slightly as well. There have been a few times when walking through a door I "miss" going through the center and slam my boob against the side of the frame. It doesn't feel very good.
I've gained a few pounds and I think I'm a little bloated as well, since when I put my running tights on my stomach shows a little more than normal. Nothing crazy, but it's something. It could also be the fact that I've been eating a ton more than normal. Although not all food sounds good, carbs have definitely been sounding good, and today I definitely think I ate more than my caloric need. I'm trying to be healthy but chocolate is my weakness. I ate an entire bag of peanut butter eggs, with the exception of 3 that I shared with my co-workers. I also ate two mini whole wheat bagels with low fat cream cheese, a personal artichoke pizza (minus the feta) from Jamestown Pie Company, a grilled cheese sandwich and more than half a bag of Honey BBQ potato chips. I'm still hungry too. Probably because I didn't really have any protein. I have to start back with my protein shakes, but they just haven't been sounding good. I'm really craving fried rice. Since tomorrow is Friday and I can't eat meat, I may get a pint of shrimp fried rice for lunch. I know, I know, more carbs but it sounds soo good right now!
I'm moving right through this 8th week and am anxious to get through the first trimester simply so we can start telling friends and family. Giving up alcohol for Lent has really helped me keep it from my friends, although I'm curious if they suspect and just aren't saying anything.
After we get our first ultrasound on the Thursday after Easter we will share with our immediate families and some friends. That's still 4 weeks away, but it's been 4 weeks since I found out I was pregnant, and the weeks have gone by pretty quick.
