28 Weeks

This week I battled insomnia, constipation and peeing every 10-15 minutes.   Welcome to the 3rd trimester!

Luckily the insomnia only lasted two nights, but of course they were the longest nights ever.  As I get more and more pregnant everything in my body is slowing down and the joys of constipation are here to stay!

During the day I seem to do okay with maintaining my bladder but there is something about 8:00-11 pm that my bladder thinks it's time to pee every 2 minutes.  It is ridiculous, I am at the point where I just laugh about it, because I only have to wait a few minutes and it's time to pee again.  The real problem is that I'm just unable to empty my bladder, obviously.  Luckily once I fall asleep in the evening I usually only have to wake up 2-3 times.

I had my 28 week appointment on Friday which included the lovely glucose test.  I'm still waiting on the results to see if I've passed, fingers crossed.  The doctor checked the heart rate, but I forgot to ask what it was.  The baby is still head down.  My fundal height was 29 cm, which is right on track, in fact I looked up what I was with Kieran and it was 29 as well.

My doctor decided just to be safe to do a fetal fibronectin test.  This test basically lets you know if there is high chance of you going into labor in the next few weeks.  With my pre-term labor history they want to take every precaution.  My cervix was also checked with a lovely internal and everything was closed up.  Fingers crossed I stay closed up for another 8-10 weeks.

When I was pregnant with Kieran I was closed at 28 weeks and they didn't check me at my 32 week appointment, but when I went in at 33 weeks with PTL symptoms I was 100% effaced and 3 cm dilated.  Therefore some time before 28 and 33 weeks my body started preparing for labor.  Because of this my doctor has decided that I should come in for weekly appointments, that way if I start going into labor early they can catch it and hopefully keep me pregnant as long as possible.

Having weekly appointments is going to make this pregnancy move even faster!
