Week 16
Weight change: 10 lb 11 oz - 11 lb 3.2 oz an 8.2 ounce gain and he's now over 11 pounds.
Kieran celebrated his first Christmas. Santa brought him a 50" teddy bear, more than double his height! My family tradition has always been to read the Polar Express on Christmas eve and we started Kieran's first Christmas just the same. Christmas morning we opened presents together as a family. Sean and I enjoyed orange sweet rolls (another family tradition, one of Sean's favorite traditions of mine) and mimosas!
We then proceeded to drive up to Northern Virginia to spend the remainder of Christmas with Sean's sister's family. It was great to see everyone and extra special since Sean's parents were there as well. Kieran loved all of the attention!
We drove home the morning after Christmas through a snow storm. Apparently Williamsburg's first White Christmas in a very long time (can't remember how long) and of course since there was no snow when I left Williamsburg and no snow in Northern Virginia I took Kieran away from probably the only white Christmas he'll ever have. Luckily for him the snow stuck around, we got over 8" so the entire city shut down.
I took him for a walk in the snow two days in a row, one of the days he even got to make a snow angel!
Week 17
Weight change: 11 lb 4.2 ounces - 11 lb 10.6 ounces a 6.4 ounce gain.
Kieran was finally "officially" diagnosed with reflux so he was able to start taking Zantac, (He's now been on it for about a week and a half) and it's definitely making him a happier baby and he's able to sleep much better at night as well. They say with this medicine it takes about a week to two weeks to notice a difference and we are definitely starting to notice and experiencing a much happier baby!

Kieran celebrated his first New Year's Eve. We are fortunate to have friends with kids that don't want to stay up to midnight either, so we went to an afternoon NYE party from 3 pm - 7 pm. It was perfect and we met a lot of new people. So much fun! We tried to go to our neighbors house later in the evening but Kieran wasn't having it. He wouldn't settle or sleep in his car seat like he used to at night so we had to take him home and put him to sleep. Needless to say neither of us made it to midnight. I'm definitely learning to sleep and go to bed when Kieran does because you just never know how long he is going to sleep.
My mom arrived New Year's Day! She hadn't been here since Kieran was 6 weeks old. How he has changed! Besides the obvious 5 pound weight change he is now an interacting fun baby. It's hard to believe he used to be so little and didn't used to be able to be able to smile and play with us as much as he does.
It was great having mom here and not only because she was an extra set of hands! I don't get to see my mom enough and it's great that she is able to see her grandson grow, even if it's not as often as she'd like.
Kieran starts daycare on the 12th so my mom helped to try and teach Kieran the bottle again. Believe it or not the kid that used to prefer bottle to boob now refuses the bottle, go figure. He'll take about an ounce or so real well and than move his tongue all around and act like he "forgot" what to do. I'm not too worried, he'll relearn. He has to, no choice because my boob can't go to daycare with with.
Kieran got a Baby Einstein Jumper, (similar to this) from our good friend's Sonny and Suzy. Kieran's new favorite thing ever is being on his feet. He'll get fussy laying down and once you stand him up and hold him underneath his armpits he's smiling and happy as can be! Between his love for standing and the fact that Kieran is getting bigger we figured that we'd put it together and see how he did with it. Let's just say he's still a little too small for it, but definitely LOVES it.

He is getting so big Tricia! I'm glad he likes his jumper, that's the one he will be borrowing from Miles, if you want it, when you come up! Can't wait to meet your little man! Love to your family!
ReplyDeleteKieran is growing and changing every day. I had a wonderful time visiting and was lucky to be able to spend loads of time cuddling with the little guy. Love you.
