Ultrasound 25 weeks + update

Yesterday I went in for my third ultrasound. We got lucky with a third since the baby was hiding in my hip at my 21 week ultrasound and they couldn't get all of the measurements they needed.

The ultrasound is my absolute favorite part of going to the doctors, as I'm sure it is for any pregnant lady. Seeing the baby move around is just about the coolest thing ever.

How can you resist little toes like these?

The tech was really good about explaining what we were looking at. For example in the below photo she told us that the baby had amniotic fluid in it's mouth. She could tell because of the black area in the mouth region.

Also the two black "blobs" in the abdominal cavity are the heart and stomach. Pretty cool, huh!

When the tech switched to the 3D/4D mode it was an even cooler experience. You could see everything and although the baby was a bit shy hiding behinds it's arms you could definitely tell what you were looking at.

No mistaking the fingers and hands on the face here

Baby Murphy was sucking away on his/her wrist here. When looking at a different angle we could definitely see the sucking motion of the mouth.

Baby Murphy was a lot more cooperative during this appointment and they were able to get all heart and brain measurements that they couldn't do at the last appointment. According to what they saw they said it looks like we will have a healthy baby come October.

The baby's heart rate was 150 and the baby is now measuring 1 lb, 11 oz. That is up almost a full pound since the last visit 4 weeks ago.

It's still crazy to me that my body is growing this baby especially when I see the 3D/4D images and everything becomes much more real.

My body is definitely feeling pregnant these days. I'm tiring much easier and getting off the bed and couch becomes a hassle because of the pain in my pelvic region. I asked the doctor about this and he just said it's pregnancy related and if I know what causes the pain than stop doing that. Thanks Doc. Too bad I feel the pain even when I'm not exercising and laying on the couch all day.

It's funny actually. When I run and am active my body feels great, it's just later on. It may be my body suffering later, but it could also be that my body doesn't like to sit still either.

The baby is now CONSTANTLY moving and doing his/her own exercises. As I write this I wish I had an ultrasound machine to see what is going on inside me because it feels like flips and turns.

Last night while laying in bed I watched my stomach and saw the belly moving all around. No elbows or hands popping through but movement none the less. It's pretty neat to see this and hopefully it'll make the pregnancy even more real for Sean now that he can feel his baby moving inside me. Although maybe the pregnancy is already real enough for Sean since my boobs no longer look huge with this massive belly I am now carrying around. Luckily I'm pretty much carrying all in my belly and haven't noticed much change in the rest of my body. I'm hoping it stays this way, although I guess the baby gets to decide how s/he wants to distribute my weight.

Speaking of weight I don't think I've passed Sean yet, I'm still hanging out right below 150 lbs. At the doctors I actually weighed in at 150, but everyone knows those crazy scales at the doctor's office lie and make you weigh more. I remember "long ago" when I was dreading getting into the 140's and now the 140's are normal and it'll be soon enough that I say goodbye to the 140's and welcome the 150's with open arms.

Not too much else going on, just peeing eating sleeping oh yeah and peeing again. Wow I sound like a baby. Maybe this is God's way of getting me ready to handle a baby.

Speaking of being ready I only have 102 days to go until my due date. I can't believe I'm almost in double digits. I picked up our infant car seat today at Babies R Us. Sean's parents and sister's had bought it for us as a shower gift and had it available for pickup at our local store. Nothing like driving around with a car seat in your car to really make you feel like a mom. No I didn't actually put the car seat in my car, it was in the box, but it still bumped this pregnancy up to an even higher level. The hospital won't let you leave without a car seat. Now I'm ready, just 102 more days and maybe a crib and some other stuff for the nursery, but we're getting there we're HAVING A BABY and we're having it soon.

I better start catching up on sleep because I hear that I'm going to need it.

  1. Thanks for sharing. This baby is well on it's way. Can't wait to me him/her in about 100 days!
