One month old

I can't believe Bryce is already one month old.  This month has flown by.  I can't remember my life before Bryce.  My family is officially complete.

The transition of Bryce into our family has gone a lot smoother then I anticipated.  I of course was most worried about how Kieran would do and he loves his brother more then anything.  Every day he asks where Bryce is and wants to hug and kiss him constantly.  We have to make sure Kieran doesn't crush Bryce from climbing on top of him.  So far he's been fairly nice, except for the bouncing a kick ball off of his head the other night, but Bryce forgave him.

Bryce is probably over 11 pounds by now.  Last Monday he weighed in at 10 lbs 4 ounces and he has been gaining about a pound a week.  I will find out an official weight at boob group tomorrow.  At his two week appointment he was 21.5".

We don't have a real schedule right now but I'm eventually trying to get to the 3 hour schedule I had with Kieran.  Eating at 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 and then having an activity of some sort and then taking a nap before the next feeding.  We are sort of doing this, but feedings during the day are usually every 2 hours, and we are still at the very sleepy stage where we sleep most of the day.  We do have two big chunks of awake time between 8-10 am and 7-9 pm.  Kieran never had a long wake period this early on.

So far Bryce is a great sleeper.  Of course it's easy when you are a sleepy newborn, but I can usually tell if he's fussing he either wants to eat or want to sleep.  Or maybe a diaper change, but usually it's the first two.  I can put Bryce down awake and he'll fall asleep.  I never had to rock Kieran to sleep and there was no way, if I could help it, that I was going to change this sleep habit with baby #2.  For the most part Bryce likes to be swaddled.  He does get frustrated sometimes and I will have to unswaddle his arms and then he crashes with his arms up in the air, but the majority of the time he won't settle until his body is wrapped up like a burrito.  Night time sleeping is usually about 2.5-3 hours of sleep at a time.  Basically 3-4 hours between feedings.  I've been getting more efficient about getting him fed, changed and burped in about 30 minutes during each waking.  His last feeding of the night usually ends around 9 and he usually is up at 12:30-1 and then 4ish and then around 6:30-7.  I have not taken advantage of going to bed at 9 very often.  One day I'll learn, until then I'll take a 2 hour nap myself each day.

Nursing is going well.  In fact Bryce is a fairly fast nurser.  Most feeding sessions are less then 15 minutes of actual eating.  Unfortunately it takes a bit to get a burp out of him and if I don't stop to burp him 2-3 times during a feeding he'll spit up when he does eventually get a burp out.

We have been going through a million diapers a day, seriously I forgot how many diaper changes a newborn needs.  For the most part he has learned not to poop at night, but he makes up for it during the day.  Kieran calls them "apple poops".  Not sure why, maybe it looks a bit like applesauce to him?

Not sure what else to talk about, so that's it for now.
