Kieran is so much fun these days. He's "talking" up a storm, he'll have long conversations that are just so much fun to listen to. I really wish I knew what he was talking about. Everything and I mean Everything goes to him mouth. He loves his toys that are easy to put in his mouth and he loves when I put bibs on him because those also are easy to gnaw on and immediately go in the mouth. I try telling him that the bibs are for the drool and he shouldn't make them more wet by sucking on them, but he doesn't listen.
Night time is kind of a toss up at this point. He was doing really well and than we went to Boston for a long weekend to visit my friend and his entire schedule got out of whack. We were finally getting back on schedule, took about a week and he has a few good nights and now the last two nights he's been up every hour. I don't know if he's teething, going through a growth spurt or what, but I miss my sleep and just want my good sleeper back.
No matter what kind of night we've had the kid is a pure joy in the morning, just as long as you don't wake him up. He loves the morning and will lay in bed talking to his seahorse looking at his mobile and will give you the biggest smile ever when he sees you. He's still sleeping swaddled, with the help of a receiving blanket that secures his arms to his side and makes it so he can't break out. When unswaddled in the morning he does the biggest stretches and coos uncontrollably.
I've by accident on a few occasions woken him up when I thought he was awake, let's just say the screaming didn't stop for about 10 minutes. I guess he likes his sleep like his Mommy. Now if he could only sleep soundly from 7 pm - 7 am. Yeah, yeah I know I know that's a lot to ask for. After last night I'd settle for how it used to be with a wake up around 12:30-1:30 and than another at 4:30-5 and than up around 7. His best nights so far have been sleeping until 3 am and than up around 7-7:30. That's where I wish we were back at. That's the thing about being a parent, when you think you know what to expect in an evening, it is shuffled all around and is nothing what you expected.
At least our night routine is predictable and because of this I think it helps Kieran know that it's time to settle down and go to bed and for the most part he does sleep fairly well.

This cow Rose is probably one of his favorite toys, it makes him smile every morning when Sean gets her out. We're waiting until after 6 months to introduce food as recommended by many sources for exclusively breast fed babies. In fact it'll probably be closer to 7 months when we start since at his 6 month appointment he'll almost be 6.5 months. Especially since he was a preemie we aren't rushing anything. We did however go out and get a highchair so Kieran could practice sitting in it so he's familiar with it when it's time.
As I mentioned earlier in this post Kieran went to Boston earlier this month. This was his first trip and we flew solo leaving Sean at home. My friend's Kerry and Kevin had a baby shower, their first child is due the beginning of April. Kerry and I were college roommates and the maid of honor in each others wedding. I was anxious to see her pregnant and anxious to show off Kieran. He did great on the plane and was very well behaved. He even broke Kerry in with a major blowout that required the throwing away of a brand new onesie. It was just too messy to deal with.
Big boy sitting on the seat on the plane. He looks exhausted because he was, we had to wake him up early to make the flight.
Big boy doing tummy time after the partySunday before we left we stopped at Sean's sister's house and visited with her and Kieran's two cousins Ella and Alex.
Practicing the sippy cup, I've put a little bit of breast milk in it a few times but I don't think he's actually got any yet, you have to suck a whole lot harder than when he drinks out of his bottles.
and hands too!I finally got my BOB jogging stroller. I've been waiting to find them on craigslist but was inpatient and order off of Amazon when they were discounted at 25% off when the new 2011 model was released.
Hey little guy! This past week we had unseasonable warm temperatures so Kieran and I spent most of the day on the back deck.

Another first this month was Kieran staying with a babysitter. Our friends Jami and Ryan kindly watched Kieran so we could go out to dinner with Sean's parents while they were in town, and in fact will be watching him again soon. Date nights are definitely needed, even if Kieran is all we talk about. Kieran was well behaved, and I think it helped that we put him to bed for them. According to Jami & Ryan he turned his head from one side to the other, that was all the excitement they got for the evening. The next time they may need to put him to bed depending on how his day goes. We can only put him to bed so early. We'll see what we end up doing.

Another thing to note after my previous post showing Kieran's new trick of rolling he decided he didn't want to do it anymore. He did roll twice for Sean this past weekend, but besides that has been fussing on his belly instead of moving on and rolling to where he is more comfortable. We'll give it time, we're not worried.
I really can't believe what a little person he is becoming. I truly enjoy every day with him and definitely miss him when he's at daycare. We've been taking a break from daycare the last few days since their have been a few cases of the flu, strep throat and pink eye. Lovely! I would like Kieran not to get any of the above thank you very much.
Not too much else going on. We've right at the 14 lb mark, he weighed in at 13 lb 14.2 ounces yesterday so he should e 14 pounds before the week is over.

Nice post - Kieran certainly is starting to have his own little personality. I so enjoy reading the posts and seeing the pictures. Love you all.
